The Harrison Festival of the Arts, which takes place in July features international music, dance, theatre and visual arts. The World Championship Sand Sculpture Competition takes place in September - October offers individual and team carvers from around the world the chance to shape amazing castles, cottages, myths and fairy tales on the beach. In the spring and summer, the Harrison River is a fishermans
paradise, with large runs of steelhead, coho and sockeye salmon.
In the winter excellent skiing can be found at Hemlock. From Seattle (
3 hrs ) take Highway #5 to Bellingham, #539 to Lynden, east to Sumas
border crossing and head east on the Trans Canada Highway #1.
