Pender Island Accommodations

Hamilton Beach on North Pender, and Mortimer Spit on South Pender, offer swimming and picnic sites. There are marinas at Port Browning, Otter Bay and Bedwell Harbour as well as 20 public ocean access points on the Penders. The Canada Customs office for boaters is on the wharf at Bedwell Harbour.

There are many trails for hikers, novice and experienced or enjoy a leisurely stroll down a country lane, stopping at roadside stands to sample local fare. Scooters and bicycles are available for exploring or rent a boat to fish for salmon and cod. A golf course is located on Otter Bay Road and tennis courts are available at three locations. Look for local arts and crafts at the many galleries and shops. Accommodations range from campsites, bed and breakfasts, cabins, inns and resorts. Situated on four acres of rolling hills and forests overlooking a secluded cove, Cooper's Landing is in an unparalleled  year-round sports resort destination, catering to scuba divers, kayak or sailing enthusiasts, sports fishing and cyclists.

Known as the friendly Islands and the Islands of hidden coves and beaches, the Penders are actually two Islands joined together by a bridge.

BC Ferries service to Otter Bay (sailing from both Vancouver Island and the Lower Mainland). Reservations are strongly recommended. Please visit the BC Ferries site for more information.

Things to do:

The Pender Islands Parks and Recreation Commission has recently opened new beach-access points that are clearly marked and well maintained.

Fish for salmon, halibut or cod or cruise the coastline in a small boat. Bring diving gear and explore the underwater world. Pacific Shoreline Adventures offers fishing, whale watching & marine wildlife viewing charters with picnic lunch on board at beautiful Marine Park.

Rent a kayak and tour the coastline and surrounding waters. Hike various trails that range in degree of difficulty from novice to experienced: Mount Elizabeth Regional Park and Mount Norman Regional Park have established trail systems. Play a game of tennis or a round of golf. Sample locally grown vegetables at roadside stands or shop for arts and crafts at many shops and galleries. Annual craft fairs, poetry readings, and exhibitions are held throughout the year.

Notice: There are no bike trails on the Pender Islands and that the trails in Pender Parks are designed for low impact use and that no park trails are for bicycles or other vehicles. Please leave your bicycles at the trail head and enjoy the trail on foot.
