The Campbell River area offers an endless number of touring possibilities. Strathcona Park, the Discovery Islands, and downtown Campbell River are all places well worth your time. Your means of getting around can include hiking, bicycles, cars, boats, and airplanes.

Take a 10 minute trip on the ferry to Quadra Island and visit the museum which has a splendid collection that preserves the heritage of the Kwagiulth people. At Cape Mudge you can visit the lighthouse, built in 1898. You can also find ancient petroglyphs at low tide, in this area and at Francisco point. There are also lovely picnicking, swimming, windsurfing and beachcombing areas on the island. A bicycle is an excellent way to tour the island. From Quadra Island you can also take another ferry to Cortes Island and visit the lakes, lagoons, beaches and bays.

Inland from Campbell River you will find Strathcona Provincial Park, British Columbia's oldest. Within the boundaries of the park you will find six of the seven highest mountains on Vancouver Island, Canada's highest waterfall at 440 meters (1400 ft.), 32 km (20 mi.) long Buttle Lake, 100 kilometers (62 mi.) of hiking trails, Vancouver Island's last glacier, and the natural wildflower gardens of Paradise Valley. Activities include hiking, camping, Nordic and downhill skiing, fishing, boating, and canoeing.
