Kelowna BC

Kelowna is the hub of Central Okanagan and the gateway for air transportation from Vancouver or Calgary, Alberta. Here, family fun can be found mixed with exciting nightlife, fine dining and championship golf, hiking trails, fresh water fishing, boating, parasailing and many more exciting activities.

Booking early is always advised, especially for the summer months as it is a popular destination.  Kelowna is home to 8 of the finest 18-hole  championship golf courses the Okanagan has to offer. Visit Father Pandosy's Mission, the first agricultural settlement in the city. Guisachan Heritage Park, once the summer home of Lord Aberdeen, offers an English Garden and restaurant. The Fintry Queen, one of the original paddle wheelers to ply Okanagan Lake still sails daily with lunch and dinner cruises. 

For a fascinating insight into the city's past, visit The Orchard Industry Museum in the historic laurel Packing House and nearby Kelowna Centennial Museum. 

Downtown, stroll through acres of lawn and garden in City Park and past lagoons, waterfalls and manicured lawns in Waterfront Park. Stop at the new Kelowna Art Gallery where internationally acclaimed art exhibitions can be seen. 

Consider seeing the area by air with float plane tours departing from the shore of Okanagan lake at the Grand Okanagan Lakefront Resort and Conference Centre. 

Family fun can include indoor golf, a mini Grand Prix race track and Wildwater's waterslides. 

Take a ride on the Okanagan Valley Wine Train which operates July through September. Travel in a restored railcar on a scenic round-trip north to Vernon, past farms and orchards and three lakes. Several of the orchards in the Kelowna area offer guided tours and others offer U-Pick. At Pioneer Country Market, an old-fashioned rural store, preserves and treats can be found.  The restored Benvoulin Church (circa 1892) is located close by. This heritage site is free to explore.

Westbank

In Westbank, a bustling community on the west side of the lake across the floating bridge, you will find family attractions like the petting zoo at Old Mac Donald's Farm, ostrich and emus at Bear Creek Provincial Park, or ride the slides at Wet N' Wild. It's a perfect stop as you head south to Peachland on the west side of Okanagan Lake. See the eight-sided church as you sample the many beaches along the shore.

The picturesque town of Peachland, situated on Okanagan Lake off Highway 97 just south of Kelowna and 1/2 hour drive north of Penticton, offers seven kilometers of beaches, a gentle sloping shoreline, and cool, clean waters . The main street of Peachland runs right along the lake, surrounded by orchards, vineyards, and towering Ponderosa Pines. Peachland is a boaters paradise and is located just across the lake from Rattlesnake Island, rumoured to be the home of the legendary lake monster Ogopogo. Bring your camera just in case of a sighting!

Okanagan Mountain Park offers countless hiking trails, mountain biking and horseback riding. Explore coves and inlets along the beach. If you are looking for adventure, golf, tennis, boating, hiking or simple relaxation, Peachland's unique waterfront setting makes it an excellent vacation choice.
