Victoria's best kept secret, the Postern gate is a four suite inn offering you the comforts and luxury of home and the privacy of your own space. Our ideal location finds you steps away from Government house, Craigdarroch Castle, Antique Row, fine dining, downtown shops and the Inner Harbour.

All our comfortable suites feature queen size beds, cozy fireplaces, full baths with jetted tubs, fully equiped kitchens and sunny private patios. A full complimentary breakfast is served in our sun lit dining room or, weather permitting, outside in our private garden.

Once the original groom's cottage for Victoria's famous Craigdarroch Castle, the Postern Gate has grown into an award winning Bed and Breakfast. The inn is a mere 10 minute walk to downtown shops and the inner Harbour so you can leave your car in our parking lot and explore our beautiful city by foot. Antique Row and a variety of Victoria's finest restaurants are also around the corner.

Garden Suite

Queen wrought iron bed snuggled in an alcove facing a beautiful fireplace and living room area with glass sliding doors leading to a sun lit private patio. Soaker tub with jacuzzi and shower plus a fully equipped kitchen with eating area make this suite one of our favorites.

The Carriage Suite  

This suite is located in what was once a carriage house when our main cottage belonged to Craigdarroch Castle. A lovely living room with gas fireplace, dining area and access to a private patio and a fully equipped kitchen grace the main floor along with a bathroom featuring a separate shower and a double jacuzzi bathtub. The bedroom is located in a loft overlooking the living room and featuring a queen bed. The stairs are like a ship's cabin where you descend backwards appealing to the child in all of us.

Postern Suite

The largest of our suites which features lots of skylights and a separate bedroom with a four poster canopied bed. The living room has a fireplace, access to a sunny balcony, a double sofa bed and sliding doors which can be closed off to allow for privacy should four people share the suite. A fully equipped kitchen and separate dining room plus a full bathroom with jetted tub complete the picture. 

The Magnolia Suite

This sun filled suite is almost identical to the garden suite except it has a sunny private balcony off the living room instead of a patio.

We base our rates on double occupancy - additional persons = $25.00 - We are a non-smoking inn, Wheelchair accessible (Garden Suite)

Deposits and Cancellations - We accept Visa, Mastercard and American Express to hold your reservation. Deposits are refunded if notice of cancellation is received 7 days prior to arrival date. A $20.00 processing fee will be withheld from the deposit for each cancelled room reservation. We reserve the right to hold your entire deposit if less than 7 days notice is given for cancellation.
