The Queen Charlotte Islands offer the promise of a magical journey to the centre of your soul. The two main islands are Graham Island in the north, and Moresby Island in the south. Graham and Moresby are separated by the very narrow Skidegate Channel (pronounced Skid-eh-Gate). The total Islands population is approximately 6000. The main centers are Masset, Old Massett, Port Clements, Tlell, Skidegate, Queen Charlotte City, and Sandspit. A full range of services are available here, including banking facilities (ATM) in Queen Charlotte City and Masset, grocery stores, rental cars, restaurants, accommodation, fishing lodges, fishing supplies, charter excursions, shower and laundry facilities, liquor stores. The main airport is located in Sandspit on Moresby Island. A 30 minute of drive plus a 20 minute ferry ride is required to get from the airport to Graham Island and the other communities. An airport shuttle and bus service is available. The Charlottes are wet and windy from October to February and storms can also occur during the summer. July is the dryer month. Cape Saint James at the southern tip of the archipelago is has at times some of the worst weather in all of Canada with some of the highest wind velocities ever recorded in Canada. Spanning the entire length of the Queen Charlotte Islands are the Queen Charlotte Mountains, some of which reach elevations over 800 metres.
