South Cowichan

Getting Here

The area is reached by taking Highway 1 south from Nanaimo or Highway 1 north from Victoria. It is comprised of several small villages and towns whose inhabitants enjoy a leisurely lifestyle. It is an excellent area for outdoor activities with its scenic lakes, forests, ocean shores, and excellent parks. The area is also world famous for its native crafts and Cowichan Indian Sweaters.

The hub of the area is Duncan with the Mill Bay, Cobble Hill, Shawnigan Lake, Cowichan Bay, Honeymoon Bay, Youbou, Lake Cowichan, Crofton, Chemainus and Ladysmith being the other communities.   Yellow Point, which is a sea side area just north of Ladysmith near the twon of cedar is listed in our Nanamo section.
